BRONZED GODDESS MAKEUP
HOW TO GET THE
Bronzed Goddess GLOW
(without the sun damage)
A summer glow guide, seven steps in.
The bronzed goddess glow is the makeup version of a two-week vacation. Sun-warmed skin. That lit-from-within radiance. A face that looks like it's been somewhere.
And if you've been with us through the SPF edit, you already know the trade-off. Real sun means real hyperpigmentation. Fine lines. That subtle loss of clarity no serum can chase down once it's there.
So we don't chase the sun for the glow. We build it. Seven steps, all clean, all skincare-forward and yours to layer at your own pace.
STEP ONE
THE FAUX TAN
Real tan takes days of sun exposure. Faux tan takes drops.
Every bronzed goddess look starts the night before with a gradual self-tanner. Suntegrity Island Tan Gradual Self-Tanning Drops are what we reach for. Mix a few drops into your night cream, apply as usual and wake up to skin that looks like it caught a light. No orange, no streaks, no commitment. Add more drops next time you want to go deeper.
STEP TWO
THE LUMINOUS BASE
Now for the day-of glow.
The Dreambeam Sunlit Primer is a two-in-one that gives you lit-from-within radiance and SPF 40 protection in a single step. Wear it alone on a low-makeup day, or under everything for a base that glows through every layer. Think of it as the sunkissed filter, permanently on.
STEP THREE
THE BRONZER
Here's where you pick your lane.
For a matte, sculpted, model-off-duty finish, go liquid. Westman Atelier Sun Tone Matte Liquid Bronzing Drops are made to underpaint. A few drops on the high points of your face (temples, tops of cheekbones, bridge of nose, jawline) blended with a damp sponge or fingers. Buildable, blendable, never muddy.
For a softer, dewier, just-got-back-from-the-beach finish, go cream. The Westman Atelier Sun Tone Bronzing Crème is a silky cream-to-powder formula that gives you warmth without weight. Apply with fingers for the most natural blend.
Both are good. It's a matte-versus-dewy choice, not a better-versus-worse one.
STEP FOUR
THE LAYERED BLUSH
The secret to a believable flush is layering. A liquid, then a powder, then a highlight, all stacked in the same spot.
Start with Jane Iredale ColorLuxe Liquid Blush for a wash of color that melts into skin. Then layer with your powder of choice.
Our two powder favorites, both worth the shelf space.
Kosas Blush Is Life is super pigmented with a baked finish. A little goes a long way, and the finish is luminous without being shimmery.
RMS Re Dimension Hydra Powder Blush is the fan favorite. Sugar-derived wet-powder technology gives you a creamy texture with a 3D finish that catches light on the tops of your cheekbones. This is our number one best-selling blush for a reason.
STEP FIVE
THE HIGHLIGHT
The Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlighter Stick on the tops of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, the cupid's bow, the brow bones and the inner corners of your eyes. This is the step that ties the whole look together. That true, lit-from-within glow brings light and dimension back to the face and adds a youthful finish makeup alone can't fake. Overdone highlight is what makes bronzed looks read costume. Restraint is what makes it look expensive.
STEP SIX
THE WARM EYE
The bronzed goddess eye is warm, soft and lived in. Just a wash of bronze that catches the light when you blink.
The ILIA Necessary Eyeshadow Palette is your one-and-done for this look. Every shade in the palette is a wearable warm neutral, and it's small enough to travel with. If you only own one eye palette this summer, make it this one.
Then add a soft, gentle wing with ILIA Clean Line Liquid Liner. The fine precision tip gives you the control to flick the outer corner or tightline the upper lash line, whichever the day calls for.
For the waterline, Kosas Soulgazer Intensifying Gel Eyeliner. Deep and creamy, it stays put through Arizona heat. Also works to tightline the upper lash line if you want a smokier finish.
STEP SEVEN
THE GLOSSY NUDE LIP
Two ways to build the perfect nude, both flattering, both non-negotiable in our own kits.
Start with the Lip Shape Lip Liner. "Biscuit" is a cool, brown nude that reads very 90s in the best way. "Cou Cou" is a neutral pinky taupe that flatters every skin tone. You cannot go wrong with either.
Then layer over with True Botanicals Lipid Lip Hydrating Glossy Oil for that juicy, glass finish. It nourishes while it glosses, which is exactly what your lips need after a summer day.
That's the whole look. Endlessly repeatable, worth every step and yours from now through August.
The best part of building your bronzed glow instead of chasing it? It doesn't fade. It doesn't peel. And your skin doesn't age faster for wearing it.
Sun without the sun. The way we like it.
